Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in both film, television and theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe, the flamboyant lawyer from her role on the Showtime program Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name following her marriage to. Contractor, who was raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai when he was 7years old, traveled all over across the globe and lived through various cultures while growing up. Her education was at a boarding-school in London between 7 and 9 years. Then, the family moved from London to Toronto, Canada. Contractor was an outstanding scholar in Toronto and trained to be a classical ballet dancer. At the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school specializing in arts) she studied ballet and theater. Contractor began acting at age 16 after completing a total of 10 years of dancing. When she graduated from high-school with a full scholarship for tuition to University of Toronto where she pursued theatre studies with a double degrees in Sociology and Psychology. After a single year at University, Contractor went to an open call audition for the production Pericles at the prestigious, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the role of lead. The show she played in 92 performances were praised by Canadian theater critics. The conservatory at Stratford takes eight people, four women as well as a few others for a weeks of crash courses. Contractor's participation in the next season's production was confirmed. She got the part of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
